Multi award winning country inn with four b&b rooms in the midst of the Royal Forest of Dean, serving modern British food and ale.
Where It All Began
Having met working together and travelling around the country, Sam and Steve had returned to Sam’s roots when they saw that The Miners, in the village that Sam had grown up in, was available. Over a glass of wine on a Sunday evening it was all set in motion, two weeks later we were in and opening.
The premise has always been to serve local excellent produce in a relaxed gastro-pub setting, providing a balance between the pub’s history as a local drinking venue and highlighting the exceptional skills that Steve has picked up over his time working with some of the best chefs in the country.
To this day the venture is a work in progress, with developments and improvements being worked on constantly.

What People are Saying
“Surprisingly great food for vegans & vegetarians”
“We were looking for somewhere to have lunch on a busy Easter Monday and came across this place. From the outside it didn’t look promising and even whilst we waited for our food the ambience wasn’t that appealing. But the food was absolutely wonderful. My vegan daughter was really impressed as were the rest of us vegetarians.”
“Stopped here for lunch and they were very accommodating, allowing our dog to join us at our table in the bar. The menu was interesting and the food was excellent, the best I’ve had in the area. Looking forward to returning on our next visit.”
“Top lunchtime meal”
“Excellent local food and great service on what looked like a fairly busy Thursday afternoon.! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! :)))”
“We were visiting from London for walking in the wye valley region when we fell across this pub based on its reviews.
We can on a Thursday where we had a taste of the forest menu, two or three courses for £14/16. I had the boar burger which was honestly incredible.
We love the restaurant so much we came back the following night!
Fantastic food, fairly priced, all locally sourced and lovely staff. Best pub we’ve both been to in a long time!”
